I was invited to collaborate with Riff Agency on their client’s coffee shop branding, partnering to reimagine the visual identity of a beloved community staple. Bigfork Coffee House has long been a gathering place for locals and visitors alike — a spot for early mornings before heading to the lake, post-hike refuels, and slow conversations over a perfectly brewed cup. The challenge was to honor that legacy while creating a brand that felt more cohesive, elevated, and ready for its next chapter.
The refreshed identity draws directly from Bigfork’s natural surroundings. Pine forests, mountain air, and the quiet warmth of a lakeside cabin informed the direction. The logo blends rustic character with modern refinement — organic shapes, grounded typography, and earthy tones create a visual language that feels both timeless and fresh. It captures the essence of Montana living without leaning into cliché.
Beyond the primary mark, the brand system was thoughtfully expanded to include secondary logos, submarks, typography pairings, and a flexible color palette. Each element was designed to translate seamlessly across packaging, merchandise, signage, and digital applications, ensuring consistency while allowing room for creativity. Texture and subtle detail bring warmth and approachability, reinforcing the cozy, welcoming atmosphere the coffee house is known for.
The result is a brand that feels deeply rooted in place yet confident in its evolution — rustic, warm, and ready for your next forest adventure (or Monday morning ritual).
